The TG WSIS* was launched in May 2010, during the WSIS Forum 2010 held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The main objective of the TG WSIS was to track progress towards the achievement of the 10 WSIS targets. The Task Group completed this objective with the publication of the Final WSIS Targets Review: Achievements, challenges and the Way Forward, which was published on 10 June 2014, during the WSIS+10 High-Level Opening Segment.
In preparation of this report, the TG WSIS had developed a monitoring framework to help countries in tracking the WSIS targets:
Measuring the WSIS Targets - A statistical framework was launched at the WSIS Forum 2011. The report became the main reference document for the final review of the achievements made towards meeting the WSIS targets in 2015.
The list of indicators that this document proposed, were first proposed in the ITU World Telecommunication/ICT Development Report 2010. They were also discussed on this discussion forum** and presented in a dedicated session (7) at the ITU World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators meeting (WTIM), which took place from 24-26 November 2009, in Geneva, Switzerland.

*The TG WSIS is open not only to Partnership members but also to non-members. The participation and input from external collaborators is important as the WSIS targets cover areas of the information society that go beyond the expertise of the Partnership. **This forum is organized by WSIS targets and a sub-group has been created for each one of the 10 WSIS targets. Members of this forum were invited to make comments and provide input on the proposed indicators until mid-November 2010. To find out more about the TG WSIS, please read its Terms-of-Reference.
