In May 2011, ITU had a press release saying "ITU aims to protect kids online - with standards". What has been done and are there already ITU standards available on Child Online Protection?

ITU-T Study Group 17 has been tasked by TSAG to study relevant topics on Child Online Protection (COP). SG 17 is investigating security-related guidelines/standards on COP. For doing this, the Correspondence Group on COP was established with the purpose to clarify SG 17’s role in child online protection, and to identify the possible areas and technical work items where SG 17 has expertise.

At present, no ITU-T Recommendations on COP are available.

The Correspondence Group COP has delivered a report on its activities to the August/September 2011 SG 17 meeting. That report is available to ITU-T members.
CG COP will report again to the forthcoming SG 17 meeting in February/March 2012.
