We are happy to launch the WSIS Flash Newsletter. WSIS Flash will provide monthly updates on the WSIS Implementation process i.e. WSIS Forum 2011, WSIS Stocktaking Platform, Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development, United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS), Global Repository and Global Events Calendar. The WSIS Stocktaking Platform provides a large database containing an estimated 4804 projects submitted by WSIS Stakeholders based on the Geneva Plan of Action. In addition, the WSIS Stocktaking platform offers a global events calendar, global repository, blogs, online communities, online forums, interactive online interviews, implementation case studies, country case studies, an embeddable interface and WSIS Lab.
WSIS Stocktaking Online Forum
The online Forum addresses several topics of which, the most important are ranged from e-agriculture, e-health, e-employment, e-business; to ICT and disasters, ICTs impacts on reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, the use of remote hubs.
As part of the WSIS Network activities, the WSIS stocktaking platform has also documented interviews conducted by its team. To this end, a total of 9 interviews covering different topics in the framework of WSIS have been launched. The WSIS network has interviewed the following institutions: ITID, ITU UNCTAD, UNDESA, FAO, UNEP, IFAD, UN-NGLS. You can always participate in the discussion by submitting your questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
WSIS Stocktaking Blog
Provides an open discussion space for the users to discuss issues of interest and concern. Every month a list of topics will be provided with the purpose of updating WSIS Network with the latest activities from all over the world. WSIS Lab – www.wsis.org/wsislab is a collaborative space aimed at sharing research relevant to the Information Society development focused on collecting publications related to the economic impact of broadband. WSIS Lab visitors may post their research results using the WSIS Lab blog or via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Visitors can also download a reference document with more than 180 entries to identified studies on economic impact of broadband.
During the WSIS Forum 2010, the Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development launched the Task Group on Monitoring the WSIS Targets (TG WSIS). All interested WSIS stakeholders are invited to register at http://groups.itu.int/wsis-targets to participate in this task group.
The 8th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Meeting (WTIM), Geneva, Switerland, 24-26 November 2010. The meeting, which is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau's Market, Information and Statistics Division, is the key forum for discussing telecommunication/ICT measurement issues at the international level. http://www.itu.int/ITU-D/ict/wict10/index.html
